Ten Thousand Villages Benefit Day

Sunday, November 13, is First Mennonite Church's "Benefit Day" at Ten Thousand Villages in Lincoln's Haymarket and we want to help Foster Care Closet. 

Ten Thousand Villages HaymarketThe store is sharing 10% of total sales that day and First Mennonite has designated the proceeds for the Foster Care Closet. 

Yams and Stuffing Collection

Canned Yams

First Mennonite Church is collecting canned yams and boxes of stuffing mix for People's City Mission to distribute to needy families, along with turkeys and other Thanksgiving food items. 

Our goal is 300 of each.

As of November 8 we have received:

Yams: 115

Stuffing 145

Deadline is Sunday, November 13.

 

Jeanette Harder Featured on Shaping Families

Bike Drive

Bike KitchenBike Kitchen supports riders and those that need transportation by providing bikes for those in need and educating those that don't know how to repair their own bikes.

First Mennonite Church is gathering bikes and related items to donate to Bike Kitchen on March 6. 

Champions Program Begins

Heart of a Champion - A training program for unemployed and underemployed adults will hold its first session at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, at First Mennonite Church.  The program is sponsored by the Northeast Lincoln Pastors Group.  Those interested in participating or serving as mentors may visit www.fmclincoln.org/champions for full details.

Global Family Sponsorships

Novo CordeiroFirst Mennonite Church has begun two sponsorships of the Novo Cordeiro project through Mennonite Central Committee's Global Family Program.

Mission Offering

Mission Offering - Our final Mission Offering for 2010 will be received on Sunday, December 5. Because 2010 offerings have been lower than planned, Leadership Board has agreed to use this offering as a way of closing the gap so that we can meet our commitments to increased support of Mennonite Central Committee, People's City Mission, City Impact, Mennonite Mission Network, Habitat for Humanity, and other causes. If you will be away from church on Sunday, contributions designated "Mission Offering" may be made for the rest of the year or donate online:

Gifts of Love

gifts of loveGifts of Love - Sunday, December 5, is the last day to contribute new gifts for children, teens, and adults, to the City Impact Gifts of Love Store. The store plays an important role in the ministry's work, serving as an incentive for the kid's participation and a way to build relationships with parents who can purchase items at reduced prices. Thanks for your support of this important program.

CROP Hunger Walk 2010
