The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Amen.

Litany For Fathers

Leader:

Our fathers in faith faced prison and torture.

Men:

They were true to you until death.

Leader:

We confess that we shun all of these.

Men:

We prefer security, comfort, and ease.

Leader:

We confess our sins to you, God.

Men:

Heavenly Father, forgive us.

Leader:

We strive to love our enemies.

Men:

Help us to love our families.

Leader:

Grant us kindness, gentleness, and patience.

Men:

Make us always encouraging and loving.

Leader:

Our fathers in faith had a deep and abiding love of you, O God.

Men:

Kindle that same steadfast love in our hearts, Lord.

Leader:

The martyrs gave their children a bold testimony of faith.

Men:

Make us holy teachers and faithful witnesses to our children.

Leader:

Lord, we rededicate ourselves to you and to the ministry you have given us.

Men:

Heavenly Father, we commit ourselves to you.  We commit all of our ways to you.  Make us into the men you long for us to be.  Give us courage, determination, and zeal for you.

Women:

Be with these men, husbands, brothers, fathers, sons, and friends.  Guide them and bless them with strength, wisdom, and compassion.  Make them your faithful servants in their families, in the church, and in the world.

Children:

God bless our fathers!

Announcements

THE ROSE on the altar is in celebration of the birth of Kollyns Sarah  who was born to Kent and Robbyn on Wednesday, June 16.  She weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and measured 21½ inches.  Everyone is doing well.  We rejoice with Robbyn and Kent.

MISSION OFFERING - Our quarterly mission offering will fund "Samaritan Grants" to be given in response to the needs of individuals and families.  These grants will allow each of us to help anyone in need in the name of Christ and First Mennonite Church.  Thank you for helping our church fulfill its mission in this innovative way.

LOOKING AHEAD - We will have a special potluck meal on Sunday, July 11.  Sri Mayasandra (former member of FMC) will be visiting and will join us for lunch.  Also on that same day, we will be celebrating the upcoming wedding of Tisha Roth and Steve Arens with a grocery shower following the lunch.

TUESDAY AT TWO - All high school youth (entering this fall, in high school, or recently graduated) are invited to spend an hour talking about whatever you want with David Orr this Tuesday, June 22, at 2:00 p.m. at NuVibe Juice and Java, 126 N. 14th St.  Bring your tough questions or great insights.   A smoothie, gelato, or beverage of your choice is on Dave!  Call Mary Cooney or David Orr if you need a ride.  Park on the street or in the University Square garage opposite NuVibe.

ANNUAL MEETING - Central Plains Mennonite Conference will be holding its meeting in Mountain Lake, Minnesota this week.  Our delegates, David and Anita Breckbill, Stan Harder, and David Orr will be attending.  David O. will be away Thursday through Saturday.  He can be contacted by cell phone or email.
