Announcements

BARB SCHRAG - This morning we welcome Barb Schrag, Associate Director of Resource Generation at Mennonite Central Committee, in Akron, Pennsylvania.  Barb shared stories from MCC's Global Family program during the Sunday school hour.

SARA BRUBACHER - Sara will participate in Mennonite training this summer.

MISSION OFFERING - Whether responding to an earthquake, providing resources to end ongoing human disasters through relief and development assistance, or advocating for peace and justice, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is our trusted partner.  It has long been recognized as making the most efficient use of resources and bringing uncommon vision and commitment wherever it serves.  Our first quarterly mission offering will be used to help MCC continue to respond boldly to expanding need in a time of tight resources.

EASTER SUNDAY - Sunday School classes will not be held next week.  Instead, come to the church for Easter Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.  Celebrate with a time of fellowship with your church family.

ECO-PALMS - Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem, accented by the jubilant waving of palm branches, is re-enacted each Palm Sunday in Christian congregations worldwide.  Unfortunately for the communities where these palms are harvested, palm fronds do not always represent the same jubilation they do for us.  Eco-Palms provide an environmentally friendly and economically just alternative.  Leaves are responsibly harvested in communities in Mexico and Guatemala where workers are paid fairly and engage in sustainable harvesting to protect the local ecosystem.

MENNONITE CENTRAL COMMITTEE - Thank you for the wonderful response to the Haiti earthquake.  However, due to a decrease in general giving in the last two years, Mennonite Central Committee has been forced to make cuts to vital programming around the world.  As part of these budget reductions, the MCC Central States offices, workroom and warehouse in North Newton, KS will be closed on Fridays, effective April 2010.   An "After Hours Donation Drop-Off" room is always open for you to leave material aid donations. Please consider giving a "where needed most" donation to support MCC's work.  Send checks to MCC Central States, PO Box 235, North Newton, KS 67117 or donate on-line at mcc.org.
