Haiti earthquake response will be the focus of a Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) update during the 10:45 a.m. worship service at First Mennonite Church, 7300 Holdrege St., on Sunday, March 28.

In addition to reporting briefly on the ongoing work in Haiti, Barb Schrag, MCC Associate Director of Resource Generation, will share Global Family Program stories of individual and community development during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour.

Mennonite Central Committee shares God's love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice.

Schrag leads MCC's Resource Generation department in Akron, Pennsylvania. She is responsible for developing the print, media, and web resources that aid in fundraising. Schrag has worked for MCC for more than 10 years.  She says, "Although my husband Rick and I currently live in Akron, we always refer to the midwest as home. We lived in South Dakota most of our lives and are members of the Salem Zion Mennonite Church in Freeman, South Dakota.

It is said, "We cannot hold a torch to light another's path without brightening our own."  Come and hear stories of the children whose path is brightened by the torch of First Mennonite Church.

The public is invited to both presentations. A special mission offering to benefit MCC will be received during the worship service.
