We welcome you a brother in
Christ, a member of the Lord's body and of this congregation. Now we make this covenant with you as we
renew our own covenant with God:
to bear each other's burdens,
to assist in times of need,
to share our gifts and possessions,
to forgive as Christ has forgiven
us,
to support each other in joy and
sorrow,
and in all things to work for the
common good,
thus making known Christ's presence
among us
to the Glory of God.
As we unite with each other now, may we all be joined with
Christ our Lord.

JEF WINTERLIN - We are glad to receive Jef Winterlin as a
member of First Mennonite Church this morning. Jef is finishing his studies at the University of
Nebraska/Lincoln and is currently doing his student teaching in social
studies and ESL at North Star High School.
He has been attending First Mennonite Church for the past two years
and is active in the Third Way Fellowship.
Jef was baptized in his home congregation in Iowa and will be received
by confession of faith.
CONGRATULATIONS, TERAH! - Terah Stewart graduated on
Friday night with a degree in business from Southeast Community College.
MCC OFFERING MARCH 28 - Next Sunday our first quarterly
mission offering will be used to help Mennonite Central Committee (MCC)
continue to respond boldly to expanding need in a time of tight
resources. It will support MCC's
ongoing relief and development work in Haiti and around the world. MCC is our trusted partner with a long
tradition of making the most efficient use of resources it receives. If you can't eat more than one verenika
dinner or make the winning bid on a quilt, our mission offering is a wonderful
opportunity to partner with the dedicated people of MCC who serve "in
the name of Christ."
Mission offerings are in addition to our regular tithes
and offerings. Please prayerfully
consider how you can participate.
GUEST SPEAKER - Barb Schrag, Associate Director of the
Resource Generation Department of Mennonite Central Committee in Akron,
Pennsylvania, will be our guest speaker next Sunday. She will report on the Global Family
Program during a combined Sunday School class and will give a brief update on
earthquake response in Haiti during the worship service.

|
DONATE THOSE PENNIES - Fill our penny jar with COINS,
COINS, and more COINS! All the money
is donated to MCC at the relief sale.
|
|
SUNDAY SCHOOL PARENTS - Children in preschool through 5th
grade are bringing home a Gather Round "Takeabout", which
corresponds with our lessons. They are a set of weekly "door
hangers" that reminds us of the lessons through trivia
questions, prayers, and activities. The kids also have a CD with a song
we are learning, and a sheet with the words.
Please help them with this. - Thanks, Wanda Stauffer.
THIRD WAY FELLOWSHIP - Our weekly Bible Study resumes on
Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. in the Nebraska Union lounge near Cafe Caffina.
The theme of the semester is "The Upside-Down Kingdom." All
students are welcome!
BIRTHDAY OFFERING - Today we have the opportunity to
support three students in India in their education. If you have a birthday or anniversary in March you are invited
to contribute to the birthday offering to support these three young people
through Mennonite Central Committee's Global Family Program.
|
|
JOB OPENING - MCC Central States is currently recruiting
for a Resource Generation Assistant to work out of the North Newton, KS
office. Please see the job description listed on the MCC website
mcc.org/serve/positions/employment, or contact Melissa Waltner, HR
Coordinator 316-283-2720. E-mailed resumes &
cover letters will be accepted until March 26, 2010.
|
|
MENNONITE CENTRAL COMMITTEE - Thank you for the wonderful
response to the Haiti earthquake. However, due to a decrease in general
giving in the last two years, Mennonite Central Committee has been forced to
make cuts to vital programming around the world. As part of these budget
reductions, the MCC Central States offices, workroom and warehouse in
North Newton, KS will be closed on Fridays, effective April 2010.
An "After Hours Donation Drop-Off" room is always open for you to leave
material aid donations. Please consider giving a "where needed most" donation
to support MCC's work. Send checks to MCC Central States, PO Box 235,
North Newton, KS 67117 or donate on-line at mcc.org.
