POTLUCK TODAY - Everyone is invited to join us today for a potluck meal following the worship service.  We hope you can stay.

ECONOMIC JUSTICE - Our congregation has selected a topic for special focus in 2010.  The Economic Justice Focus Team plans to create a display showing both economic justice and injustice.  Your help is needed!  Please bring your submissions to David Orr.  Materials related to economic justice and injustice might include: news articles, original photographs or images found on the web, poetry, artwork, posters, artifacts (think Equal Exchange coffee packages, Habitat for Humanity tee shirts, or items made in sweatshops).  Be creative!  Questions?  Check with team members: David Brubacher, Rhonda Brubacher, Stan Harder, Carol Knieriem, David Orr, and Marty Roth.

CONFERENCE MINISTER POSITION - Central Plains Mennonite Conference is seeking a gifted leader for the position of Executive Conference Minister. This is a full-time position for an individual who will be able to give overall leadership to the conference through tending and articulating the vision of Central Plains. It also involves leading and working with a ministry team that has two members in place. A complete job description is available at www.centralplainsmc.org.  If you know of someone who you think is especially gifted for this role please encourage them to apply. Interested individuals should forward their Ministerial Leadership Information Form and send a letter of application to Central Plains Search Committee, c/o Diane Zaerr Brenneman.  The target start date for this position is August 1, 2010.

MEMBERSHIP - Jef Winterlin will be received as a member of First Mennonite Church on Sunday, March 21.  Jef is finishing his studies at the University of Nebraska/Lincoln and is currently doing his student teaching at North Star High School.  He has been attending First Mennonite Church for the past two years.

DAVID ORR - Pastor David is visiting his family in Ohio.  He will be back on March 15.  Contact our congregational chairperson, Brenda McLey, with any pastoral care concerns.

THIRD WAY - The UNL campus fellowship will not meet on March 16 due to spring break.  The next meeting will be at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23 in the Nebraska Union.

ORDINATION - The Milford Mennonite Church in Milford, Nebraska will celebrate the ordination of their pastor, Tim Springer this Sunday, March 14 during the 10 a.m. service.  Join this congregation in celebrating the confirmation of Tim's call to ministry.

BIRTHDAY OFFERING NEXT SUNDAY - We have the opportunity to support three students in India in their education.  If you have a birthday or anniversary in March you are invited to contribute to the birthday offering next Sunday to support these three young people.

MCC OFFERING MARCH 28 - Our first quarterly mission offering will be used to help Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) continue to respond boldly to expanding need in a time of tight resources.  On Sunday, March 28, the day after the Nebraska MCC Relief Sale, Barb Schrag, Associate Director of the Resource Generation Department of MCC in Akron, Pennsylvania, will visit First Mennonite Church.  She will report on the Global Family Program during our combined Sunday School classes and will give a brief update on earthquake response in Haiti during the worship service.

Our mission offering will support MCC's ongoing relief and development work in Haiti and around the world.  It will be received on March 28 and will be in addition to our regular tithes and offerings.  Please prayerfully consider how you can participate.  MCC is our trusted partner with a long tradition of making the most efficient use of resources it receives.  If you can't eat more than one verenika dinner or make the winning bid on a quilt, our mission offering is a wonderful opportunity to partner with the dedicated women and men of MCC who serve "in the name of Christ."
