ECONOMIC JUSTICE - This has been selected as a special
focus of our congregation for 2010.
The Economic Justice Focus Team plans to create a display showing both
economic justice and injustice. Your
help is needed! Please bring your
submissions to David Orr. Materials
related to economic justice and injustice might include: news articles,
original photographs or images found on the web, poetry, artwork, posters,
artifacts (think Equal Exchange coffee packages, Habitat for Humanity tee
shirts, or items made in sweatshops).
Be creative! Questions? Check with team members: David Brubacher,
Rhonda Brubacher, Stan Harder, Carol Knieriem, David Orr, and Marty Roth.
HESSTON CHORALE - The Hesston Chorale will present a

HABITAT HOUSES - Do you know anyone living in unsafe,
substandard housing? Habitat for Humanity is looking for qualified,
low-income families that would be interested in partnering with Habitat to
build a home for them in Lincoln/Lancaster county. To learn more about
how you can become a Habitat homeowner, attend one of the following meetings
at First Mennonite Church, 7300 Holdrege: Thursday, March 11 at 6:30
p.m. or Saturday, March 13 at 9:30 a.m. Applications are available only
by attending one of these sessions. Call the Habitat office at 477-9184

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL - Two adult classes for the spring
term (March through May) began today. Kevin Troyer is leading a class
based on the Herald Press Adult Bible Study series; the topic this
spring will be "Teachings on Community" ("Community with a
mission" in March, "Teachings of Jesus" in April, and "Teachings
of the Church" in May). Also, Gordon Brubacher is leading a course
called "Archaeology, Faith, and the Old, Old, New Old Testament,"
which will suggest that archaeology helps us read the OT in some
new and better ways, and that the most important of these bear
on the social conscience of the OT in its own context and for
today. Everyone is encouraged to be involved in either of these classes
and the discussions they will prompt.
