Announcements

"SOUPER BOWL" - Today is your opportunity to participate in our local "Souper Bowl"!  Before you cheer for the Saints or the Colts in the Super Bowl, cheer for your local food pantry by placing money in our Soup Bowls.  The high school youth group will be collecting donations after today's service.  Look for their soup pots!

HAITI RELIEF DONATIONS HERE - Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is asking for 20,000 relief kits, 25,000 heavy comforters (twin size preferred), and 10,000 flat sheets (double, queen, or king in light colors) by February 28.  All items should be new. Bring donations to the church and consider sharing this request with friends and co-workers.  For complete information, go to www.fmclincoln.org/haitiearthquakeresponse.  For up-to-date information on MCC's work in Haiti please visit the following link: mcc.org/haitiearthquake/news/onsite.

LOCK-IN - High School youth group will meet at the church for a lock-in on Friday, February 19, at 9:00 p.m. till Saturday at 8:00 a.m. (or as long as Stauffer's last, whichever comes first).

BOYS CLOTHES - The Foster CARE Closet is in urgent need of boys' size 6, 7, 8 and 10 pants.  They only have 4 pair in size 6, 3 pair in size 7 and 4 pair in both 8 and 10.   If you or someone you know has a child that has outgrown this size, would you please consider donating the good, quality pairs to the Foster CARE Closet?  For more information, call Leigh.

HAITI MISSION TRIP - Miriam Cummings is going to Haiti to serve as a Registered Nurse on a medical team.  She will leave on February 14 and plans to be with the team for about a week.  Cost of airfare and in country support is over $1,000.  Your contributions to the Mission Travel fund will help with this expense.  Donate to First Mennonite Church and write "Mission Travel Fund" on the memo.  If you have medical supplies to donate, please bring them to the church before February 14.

ENVIRONMENT & SPIRITUALITY - Daniel Deffenbaugh, author of Learning the Language of the Fields: Tilling & Keeping as Christian Vocation, will speak at First Mennonite Church on Sunday, February 28 at 1:30 p.m.  Deffenbaugh, a professor of religion at Hastings College, suggests that "our backyards- our gardens- can also serve as our sanctuaries, places where we can, through our faithful tilling and keeping, gain new insights into the nature of divine grace, insights that might eventually influence the way we come into God's presence on Sunday mornings."  Everyone is invited to this free event, organized by Common Good Farm.  A fellowship time will follow.

THANK YOU - Thanks to all who help bring snacks for the 10:30 fellowship time each Sunday. The current list covers 6 months worth of Sundays, so we would like to just recycle that list for the next 6 months.  Please let Wanda Stauffer know if you do not want to be on the list, if you would like to be added to the list, or if you would rather share a Sunday with someone.  Otherwise we will recycle the current list starting in March.

CIRCLE OF GRACE - During Sunday School, our children and young people will be participating in the Circle of Grace program on February 14, 21, and 28 (and March 14 for Junior Youth and Youth). Circle of Grace is a faith-based program to educate and empower children and young people to actively participate in a safe environment for themselves and others. If you have questions, contact Jeanette Harder or Wanda Stauffer.

BIRTHDAY OFFERING NEXT SUNDAY - If you have a birthday or anniversary in February, you can help support the education of three students in India.   Next Sunday we will take a birthday offering during the worship service to assist these three students.

SAMARITAN COUNSELING - Depression can be treated and you can feel better.  If you find that, along with sharing with God and praying, you need more help, remember that Samaritan Counseling Center is a resource for you.  Read more on the bulletin board or call 402-483-5117 for an appointment.

WOMEN IN CONVERSATION - The 2010 Mennonite Women's retreat will be held April 30-May 2 at Crosswind Retreat Center in Hesston, Kansas.  Information is posted on the bulletin board.  Brochures are available below the mailboxes or visit www.mennonitewomenusa.org.
