Announcements

CHRISTMAS SINGING - The Sundays of Advent will begin with your favorite Christmas songs.  Come join in the joyous Christmas singing each Sunday morning at 10:40 a.m.

NO DECEMBER POTLUCK - We will not have a potluck meal next Sunday but will resume our regular third-Sunday potlucks in January.

CHRISTMAS EVE - Our family Christmas Eve service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 24.  Come for a short, informal celebration of Jesus' birth.

FOCUS IN 2010 - Votes are in and "ECONOMIC JUSTICE" won!  The congregation has voted to focus on Economic Justice in 2010.  Our youth are selling "Fair Trade" products.  We support "The Mission", "Habitat for Humanity" and other organizations that minister to the poor.  We're looking for a few people who are interested in taking our congregation to the next level and helping us plan more activities and educational opportunities to address this topic.  If you are one of these people please contact Carol Knieriem or David Orr.

GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFTS - The First Mennonite Youth Group is proud to offer fairly traded products from Equal Exchange to support youth activities and the youth group's National Conference trip.  You can purchase these products in the Fellowship Hall.  You can give twice by buying fairly traded gifts!

NEED A GIFT IDEA? - We still have copies of the FMC Cookbook and they make a wonderful Christmas gift.  You may purchase them in the fellowship hall, with proceeds going toward the building fund.

CHECK OUT THESE BOOKS - You can borrow some great books that have been loaned to our church from the conference library.  These books are due back in January.

THE MENNONITE - We will send in our subscription renewal to The Mennonite this week.  The church provides the magazine to all members who wish to receive it.  Contributions to help with the $35 annual cost may be made through the offering and should be designated "The Mennonite."  Let David Orr know by Monday if you would like to join First Mennonite's group subscription for the coming year.

BUILDING OFFERING - Today we will receive our final quarterly building fund offering for 2009.  We are depending upon this offering to cover a little more than half of our mortgage payments for the last three months of the year, a total of $1,800.  The offering is an opportunity to give thanks to God, meet this obligation together, and shorten our mortgage's 20-year repayment period.  Building offerings are in addition to our regular tithes and offerings.  Contributions designated "building fund" are invited and may be made at any time.

SNACK SCHEDULE - The schedule through February is posted on the bulletin board near the kitchen.  All Sunday schedules (greeters, drivers, nursery, etc.) may also be viewed online in the Member Information area of the website.  Go to www.fmclincoln.org/Sunday_Personnel.htm.

BIRTHDAY AND ANNIVERSARY OFFERING - Hindu, Muslim, and Christian students in Calcutta, India, are prepared for better lives through participation in vocational training and community education programs supported by Mennonite Central Committee's global family program.  Next Sunday everyone with a birthday or anniversary in December is invited to contribute toward our $75 monthly commitment.

GETTING THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS - The Christmas season evokes a full range of emotions.  Samaritan Counseling Center offers services for those dealing with despair, sadness, and grief including those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, a job, a home, or a relationship.  Read the center's monthly article on the bulletin board.  Visit the Center's web site at www.samaritancenter.com or call 483-5117.
