|
You have offered your children to
the strong and tender providence of God.
We rejoice with you and give thanks for the gift of your
children. We promise, with humility
and seriousness, to share in their nurture and well-being. We will support, by our example and words,
your efforts to provide loving and caring homes, where trust in God grows and
Christ's way is chosen. Our prayers
will be with you and for you. May our
shared life and witness help make your task both joyful and fruitful.

The Lord's Prayer
|
|
|
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts as we
forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the
power and the glory forever.
Amen.

Announcements
|
|
PARENT CHILD DEDICATION - This morning we dedicate
Joseph Dallas Waegli and his parents, Jay and Becky, and Tierney Kay Stewart,
and her parents Derek and Terah.
|
|
ALL ADULTS - A new quarter of Adult Sunday School began
today and you're always welcome to join us anytime. Jolene Boshart is
leading the Uniform Series class on the theme of Covenant Communities as
found in selected passages from the Old Testament, the Gospel of Mark, and I
& II Peter. Gordon Brubacher is leading a study of Daniel Buttry's
book "Christian Peacemaking: From Heritage to Hope." This is
an especially timely study because Buttry, a Baptist minister from Michigan,
will be the first speaker in FMC's Anabaptist Speaker Series and will be
with us on October 11 and 14, so this will be a good opportunity to study his
thinking. The third adult class this quarter will be devoted to sharing
and prayer. Please attend the class of your choosing--those who have
not been regularly attending Sunday School are especially encouraged to come.
|
|
Thank You! Thank You! to those who have said YES to
the kids of FMC as Sunday School teachers.
God bless your efforts and dedication.
|
|
|
|

Church Fall Party on Sunday, September 27 from 4:00 to 7:30 at Chad and Kathy
Boshart's house.
|
|
SRI MAYASANDRA - Our good friend, Sri, has sent an update
on his work in Pune, India, with lots of photographs. It is posted on the bulletin board.
QUARTERLY BUILDING OFFERINGS - Building offerings give us
a chance to give thanks to God for our successful building program, to
celebrate the growth of our congregation, and to work together to pay off our
mortgage. The next building offering
will be held on Sunday, September 13 and will be in addition to our regular
offering. Gifts designated "building
fund" may be made at any time
WOMEN'S SATURDAY STUDY - A reminder to all who signed up
for a study called "Believing in God," we begin this coming Saturday,
September 12, at 6:30 a.m. at church.
See Barb Schlegel or Wanda Stauffer if you have questions.
AMAZON EARNINGS - Thanks for remembering to link to
Amazon.com through the commercial links page on the First Mennonite
Website. In August the church earned
over $80 in referral fees on sales of 36 items.

|
FURNITURE NEEDED - Moon is looking for a small chest of
drawers or set of stackable plastic drawers to complete her room. Please let her know if you can help.
|
|
NEW ADDRESS - Tim and Amanda Balzer have moved! Please include their new address in your
church directory. They are
discontinuing their landline telephone.
|
|
|
|
NEW BOX OF BOOKS - We've received a new selection of books
from the District Conference Library.
Books relate to discipleship and forgiveness. Also included are some fiction, children's
titles, and a few books on family life.
Follow the checkout procedure on the table. Books are due back on or before October 11.
|
|
FOSTER CARE CLOSET - Some
children are placed in foster care suddenly and with only the clothes on
their back. To meet this need, Leigh
Esau started the Foster Care Closet, which provides free clothes for foster
children who need them. Please start bringing gently used clothes
to donate to this wonderful cause. Clothing
will be collected this month on the south wall of the sanctuary. Clean used items of all sizes are needed:
infant through teen sizes, dress clothes & casual clothes, shoes &
all other. Baby items are also needed
(blankets, etc.). Remember also that
lots of teens are adult size! Items
not accepted are used undergarments.
FCC also prefers modest clothing.
Thank you for your donations. If you have questions, please contact Carol Knieriem or FCC Director Leigh Esau.
