Announcements
|
|
Thank You! Thank You! to those who have said YES to
the kids of FMC as Sunday School teachers. God bless your efforts and dedication.
TEACHER DEDICATION - This morning we also give thanks for
our Children's Sunday School Superintendent, Wanda Stauffer, as well as all
those who have agreed to serve as teachers during the coming year.
|
|
FOR ALL ADULTS - A new quarter of Adult Sunday School
begins on September 6. Jolene Boshart will be leading the Uniform
Series class on the theme of Covenant Communities as found in selected
passages from the Old Testament, the Gospel of Mark, and I & II
Peter. Gordon Brubacher will be leading a study of Daniel Buttry's book
"Christian Peacemaking: From Heritage to Hope." This is an
especially timely study because Buttry, a Baptist minister from Michigan,
will be the first speaker in FMC's Anabaptist Speaker Series and will be
with us on October 11 and 14, so this will be a good opportunity to study his
thinking in preparation for his appearance. The third adult class this
quarter will be devoted to sharing and prayer. Please attend the class
of your choosing--those who have not been regularly attending Adult Sunday
School are especially encouraged to consider participating.
|
|
PARENT CHILD DEDICATION for Joseph Dallas Waegli and
Tierney Kay Stewart will be held next Sunday, September 6.
SARA BRUBACHER - We welcome Sara as our special speaker
this morning.
|
|
SNACKS ARE BACK!! - Snack time between Sunday School
and church is back!! But we need your help to make it happen. If
you enjoy this social time on Sunday mornings, please sign up for a
Sunday on the bulletin board. Keep the food simple
and sign up with a friend to keep the costs down.
|
|
SENIOR HIGH YOUTH - High School youth will meet today at
the Stauffer's at 4:30 p.m. We will go miniature golfing and then go back to
Stauffer's for food and planning for the next year.
MOVIE MATINEE - Just for the women of FMC. Plan
on a movie and coffee/dessert Sunday afternoon, September 13. We will
meet around 12:45 p.m. Movie theater and movie title yet
to-be-announced.

SAMARITAN COUNSELING - They now have two locations 8650
Pioneers Blvd. (on the St. Mark's United Methodist campus) and at Westminster
Presbyterian Church (South St. and Sheridan Blvd.). Their current article, Back to School is not all Smiles, is
posted on the bulletin board. For
information or an appointment call 483-5117.
First Mennonite church is a Covenant Partner of Samaritan Counseling.
BUILDING OFFERING - Our next quarterly offering to meet
the mortgage obligation on our building will be received on September
13. We are depending upon this
offering to cover a little more than half of our mortgage payments for the
three fall months, a total of $1,800.
The offering is an opportunity to meet this obligation together. The building offering will be in addition
to our regular tithes and offerings.
Contributions designated "building fund" are invited and may be made
at any time.
|
|
SHARING FUND - The FMC Sharing Fund is almost empty and in
need of contributions. You may
contribute by making a gift to First Mennonite and designating it for the
"Sharing Fund". The Nurture
Commission has used this fund to help with a great many needs in our church
and community.
MENNONITE WOMEN'S
WEBSITE - Please note that information and updates about CPMC (Central Plains
Conference) Mennonite Women can now be found on the CPMC website http://centralplains.mennonite.net/ (click Ministries).

|
HEAD TO THE NORTH WOODS - Come to a quilter's,
scrap-booker's and creator's retreat, called Colors of Fall, October 1-4, at
Wilderness Wind, Ely, Minnesota. Let
your laughter join that of the loons as we quilt, create and bask in the
spectacular colors of fall. Our days will
be rich and fluid with time for creative expression, good conversation and
opportunities to soak in the beauty of fall.
We will knit, sew, hike, and quilt on a baby quilt for the MCC Relief
Sale. Visit www.wildernesswind.org.

ECUADOR SERVICE TOUR - Anyone wishing to participate in a
