Announcements

WELCOME - Our speaker today is Howard Keim, president of Hesston College, in Hesston, Kansas.  Welcome to Howard and his wife, Tami.  Thank you for coming to share with us.

NEXT SUNDAY - Our speaker next Sunday will be Perry Holmgren.

BABY SHOWER - A baby shower for Bill and Katie Boyd, and baby Zachary will be held at First Mennonite Church on Sunday, June 28, after the potluck lunch.  One gift suggestion is clothes for an older infant/toddler.  Mark your calendars and join us for the celebration!

POTLUCK ON JUNE 28 - Our June potluck meal will be on Sunday, June 28 rather than the usual third Sunday of the month.  The meal will be followed by the Boyd's baby shower.

EAT RIBS & SUPPORT CITY IMPACT - Join City Impact and award-winning Phat Jack's BBQ for a great family time on Sunday, June 14, 12 - 7 pm, at Holmes Lake Park, at the shelter next to the playground.  Proceeds will benefit City Impact's programs for youth. See the entry bulletin board for prices.

WELCOME TO ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL - New classes began today at 9:30 and everyone is still welcome to start attending either class.  The Uniform Series theme for the summer is "Call Sealed with a Promise", with passages chosen from Exodus through Deuteronomy.  The second class will spend the first six weeks studying the books Jonah and Ruth using a guide from the Good Ground series.  See Gerry Cooney for study guides for either class.

SUMMER SIGN-UP - Sign up now to teach children's Sunday School this summer.  Summer is almost here, and we like to give our year-long teachers a break.  Please sign up on the bulletin board by the kitchen to help out for a Sunday or two.  This is a great opportunity to build relationships with our children here at FMC, or perhaps try out your talent of teaching, without a long commitment.  Check your schedule and sign up soon.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL SIGN-UP - You won't want to miss Bible School on July 15 and 16!  Kids, sign up now in the fellowship hall if you can come.   Volunteers, we need you to sign up, too.  See Tammy Riedel if you have questions.

GET READY FOR OUR GARAGE SALE - As you spring clean, save all your extra stuff for the FMC Garage Sale.  It will be held on Saturday, June 27 at First Mennonite Church.  Donated items can be dropped off at church starting one week before the sale.  Please be sure to price them yourselves before you drop them off.   We need your help to donate garage sale items, bring baked goods, and volunteer at the sale.  The proceeds will go to the landscaping and playground projects.

DO YOU HAVE 1 HOUR A WEEK?? - You can be a Book Buddy or a R.E.A.L. reading tutor to City Impact youth.  This summer for 5 weeks, beginning the week of June 22, you can read with kids and help them improve their reading skills this summer. It only takes 1 hour, 1 morning a week.  Anyone can volunteer.  Children under the age of 16 can come with an adult. Go to cityimpact.org for a volunteer application/sign-up form. Sign up soon for your choice of mornings.

LETTER FROM PALESTINE - See the main bulletin board for a letter from Jessica Frederick, who was recently here to share with us about her Christian Peacemaker Team work.

BIRTHDAY OFFERING NEXT SUNDAY - We will celebrate all the June birthdays and anniversaries next Sunday by collecting an offering to support our three students in India.

PARENTING WORKSHOP - The Samaritan Counseling Center will conduct a parenting workshop, "Parenting with Love and Logic", for parents of children and teens of all ages.  This is a two-day workshop on Saturdays June 20 and 27 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Center at 8650 Pioneers.  Cost is $90 per person, which includes a book.  For an additional person to attend without a book, the cost is $60.  Light refreshments will be provided.

To register for this workshop, call the Center at 483-5117.  To learn more, visit the Samaritan Counseling Center website at www.SamaritanCenter.com.
