Announcements

NEW ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES - March 1st is the first week of two new classes.  Dave Breckbill will lead a discussion on the Marcus Borg book, The Heart of Christianity.  Marty Roth will lead the Uniform Series.  The theme is "New Creation in Christ."  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

JOIN US FOR POTLUCK - We will have a potluck lunch today after the worship service.  Everyone is invited to stay for good food and fellowship.

BUILDING OFFERING NEXT SUNDAY - On March 1, we will receive our first special building fund offering.  We are depending upon this offering to cover a little more than half of our mortgage payments for the first three months of the year, a total of $1,800.76.  The offering is an opportunity to give thanks to God, meet this obligation together, and shorten the 20-year repayment period outlined in our mortgage.

The building offering will be in addition to our regular tithes and offerings.  Contributions designated "building fund" are invited and may be made at any time.

OUR DAILY BREAD - You may pick up the next copy of the devotional booklet, Our Daily Bread, on top of the church mailboxes.

WOMEN'S MOVIE MATINEE - Next Sunday, March 1st, the women are invited to meet at East Park Theaters, 66th and "O" St, at 12:45 for a matinee movie followed by coffee and dessert at Panera Bread. Choice of movie yet to be determined.

BAPTISM CLASS WEDNESDAY - The Baptism Exploration Group will meet Wednesday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. at church.

THANKS! - Thanks to both small groups that helped make school kits Wednesday.  We accomplished a lot.  If any person or small group would like to help finish them before the MCC sale, talk to Tammy Riedel.

KID-MADE QUILT -The kids (preK-12th grade) are making a quilt for the MCC sale.  Talk to Tammy to pick up a quilt block and instructions.  Return them by March 1 if possible. Volunteers to put it together are also needed.

UNL CAMPUS GROUP - Meet for fellowship and thought- provoking conversation.  The new FMC College Group will meet at the UNL Nebraska Union near the Caffina Café on Monday evenings at 9:00 p.m.  This week the group will begin a study of Philippians.  Bring your friends!

MMA SHARING FUNDS - MMA provided our congregation with $1,250 in matching funds during 2008.  They helped to support community service, youth service, and emergency needs.  Sue Burkey serves as the MMA advocate in our congregation.  Please contact her for more information.  MMA insurance and investment products generate the funds to make this possible.  Contact Homer Friesen, 888-723-4994, for information on these high quality mutual aid services.

FAMILY IDEAS - In the last issue of Scattered Seeds, the Congregational Ministries Committee encouraged families to adopt one or two new faith practices.  Here's an idea: the current issue of Beyond Ourselves includes a "Lenten Giving Calendar" with activities and suggestions for each day of Lent, starting February 25.  What a great way for families to claim their identity as God's people, celebrating and embodying a culture of abundance by sharing time and resources. Find this issue of Beyond Ourselves in your mailbox.

Foster CARE Closet: is a non-profit organization (501c3); all donations are tax deductible. FCC services all children in the state of Nebraska who are wards of the state. All items in FCC are FREE to clients. FCC operates on donations from volunteers & the community. FCC has a biblically-based mission to care for wards of the state.
