Announcements

BAPTISM CLASS WEDNESDAY - The Baptism Exploration Group will meet Wednesday, February 18, at 7:00 p.m. at church.

OUR DAILY BREAD - You may pick up the next copy of the devotional booklet, Our Daily Bread, on top of the church mailboxes.

WOMEN'S MOVIE MATINEE - Sunday, March 1st, the women are invited to meet at East Park Theaters, 66th and "O" St, at 12:45 for a matinee movie followed by coffee and dessert at Panera Bread.  Choice of movie yet to be determined.

MMA SHARING FUNDS - MMA provided our congregation with $1,250 in matching funds during 2008.  They helped to support community service, youth service, and emergency needs.  Sue Burkey serves as the MMA advocate in our congregation.  Please contact her for more information.  MMA insurance and investment products generate the funds to make this possible.  Contact Homer Friesen, 888-723-4994, for information on these high quality mutual aid services.

MARCH 1 BUILDING OFFERING - Our first special building offering will be held on Sunday, March 1.  $1,800.76 is needed to cover our minimum mortgage payments for the first three months of 2009.  Receiving more than that amount will allow us to pay off our mortgage in less than 20 years and realize substantial interest savings.  Prayerfully consider how you can participate joyfully and thankfully.

UNL CAMPUS GROUP - Meet for fellowship and thought- provoking conversation.  The new FMC College Group will meet at the UNL Nebraska Union near the Caffina Café on Monday evenings at 9:00 p.m.  This week the group will begin a study of Philippians.  Bring your friends!

BRING EXTRA - Please cook generously for the potluck next Sunday.  We are hoping to have a number of guests and want to be sure there is plenty for them.

NEW ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES - March 1st is the first week of two new classes.  Dave Breckbill will lead a discussion on the Marcus Borg book, The Heart of Christianity.  Marty Roth will lead the Uniform Series.  The theme is "New Creation in Christ."  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

TO SHARE AND PRAY - A new adult Sunday School class focusing on sharing and prayer is meeting in classroom #8.  If you are interested in visiting the class or attending regularly, please stop by.  All are welcome.

FAMILY IDEAS - In the last issue of Scattered Seeds, the Congregational Ministries Committee encouraged families to adopt one or two new faith practices.  Here's an idea: the current issue of Beyond Ourselves includes a "Lenten Giving Calendar" with activities and suggestions for each day of Lent, starting February 25.  What a great way for families to claim their identity as God's people, celebrating and embodying a culture of abundance by sharing time and resources. Find this issue of Beyond Ourselves in your mailbox.

HESSTON CENTENNIAL COOKBOOK - All Hesston College alumni and friends are invited to submit recipes for the Centennial Cookbook as a part of the college's "Living The Vision" Centennial Celebration during 2009-10.  Recipes can be submitted until March 31 on-line at http://cookbook.hesston.edu or mailed to: Centennial Cookbook, Hesston College, Box 3000, Hesston, KS  67062. More information is available at www.hesston.edu/centennial. Cookbooks will be available for purchase during Homecoming 2009, September 25-27.
