FINANCIAL REPORT:  At the January 14 congregational meeting, our treasurer, Tim Balzer, reported that offerings exceeded the budget again in 2008.  We are thankful for everyone's commitment.

We adopted a budget of $111,613, about $9,000 above 2008's figure.  The weekly offering needed will increase from $1,972 to $2,146.

Our monthly mortgage payments are $1,100.  We agreed to divide this between budgeted and designated giving.  $6,000 of the increase in the 2009 budget ($500 per month) is for payments on the mortgage.  An additional $7,200 in designated giving ($600 per month) is needed to stay current.  Quarterly offerings will be received for this purpose but gifts designated "Building" may be made at any time.

Copies of the complete financial report and budget are available below the mailboxes.

WITNESS AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY - This Thursday, wear white and join Nebraskans Against the Death Penalty to bear silent witness against the death penalty at the Judiciary Committee Hearings.  Come and help pack the hearing room at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29 in Room 1113 of the State Capitol building.  For more information, see the flyer on the church bulletin board or contact Jill Francke, NADP Statewide Coordinator at jill.francke<AT>gmail<D0T>com or 402-770-1930.
