2008 began with an expression of hope for peace. More than 50 people gathered in bone-chilling weather for a candlelight vigil on January 1 from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. on the O Street sidewalk on the north side of Woods Park.
Four speakers closed the evening with brief expressions of the desire for peace:
- Paul Olson - Nebraskans for Peace
- Carol Finn - Mother of a soldier serving in Iraq
- Rebecca Brown - Pastor of East Lincoln Christian Church
- Megan Jackson - Coalition for Peace
